Koruna Could Weaken Next Year

  • Andrej Babis led in the last pre-Christmas presidential poll, which put him on 30.1%. However, the survey showed that he would lose to either of his two closest rivals, Danuse Nerudova or Petr Pavel, in the expected runoff.
  • A survey of analysts conducted by Hospodarske Noviny suggested that the Koruna could weaken slightly in 2023 if the Czech National Bank allows it. The central bank has been defending the domestic currency since May.
  • Local headline flow is set to remain limited during the remainder of the year, with November money supply data coming up Friday.
