KPO Funds Not Seen “Anytime Soon”

POLAND
  • According to comments made in a meeting with voters, Kaczynski has said Poland are unlikely to receive KPO recovery funds “any time soon”, and as that is the case, there is no sense in making further concessions to the EU.
  • Windfall taxes are seen being broadened, with the government looking to raise a further PLN 13.5bln from windfall taxes on utility firms that would be earmarked to cover energy costs for municipalities and hospitals.
  • In an interview with RMF radio, the finance minister has stated inflation will peak in 2022, and the government is hoping that a recession will be avoided. Rzeczkowska sees inflation at 16.4% in September – broadly inline with market consensus.
  • No material data releases due Monday, with focus on September CPI due Friday.
