Kremlin: No Plan So Far For Putin To Speak w/Saudi Arabia At OPEC+

Kremlin spokesman Dimitry Peskov has stated that at present there is no plan so far for President Vladimir Putin to hold discussions with Saudi ministers at this week's OPEC+ meeting.

  • Adds that Deputy PM Alexander Novak has been in 'active contact' with other OPEC+ members.
  • Market has become split on what decisions OPEC+ will take on Wednesday (JMMC meeting) and Thursday (main OPEC+ videoconference). Decisions to be made on what to do with current production cuts that expire on May 1. Volatility in prices coming around the time of the Ever Given's blocking of the Suez canal could see a more cautious approach from the group, with the prospect of current cuts being maintained, or potentially a very small easing of cuts.
  • Peskov, speaking on other issues says that Russia will not allow the US or any other country to speak to it 'from a position of force'.
  • On vaccinations says that the prospect of the issuance of special visas to allow individuals to travel to Russia for vaccination against COVID-19 is 'worth thinking about.
