Largest Rise In Net Holdings Since May On Low PEPP Redemptions

The ECB made net purchases of E9.7bln last week, the most since mid-May and compared to the average E1.3bln weekly net reduction since the ECB ended net asset purchases under the APP on Jul 1.

  • Net PEPP purchases were positive for the first time in 6 weeks (E4.8bln), with PSPP holdings rising by E4.5bln. Covered bond, CSPP, and ABS holdings all rose marginally.
  • The net purchase figures were elevated by relatively modest redemptions last week: E3.0bln for PSPP (2nd smallest since mid-August) and E0.3bln for PEPP (the 2nd smallest since mid-February).
