Little Net Change In EU & UK Equities

EQUITIES

Mainland European equity index futures were a touch firmer to start the week, with a lack of an Israeli invasion of Gaza (aided by U.S. back-channel intervention) providing modest tailwinds.

  • Euro Stoxx 50 futures are now little changed, off best levels seen ahead of the cash open.
  • Conversely, FTSE 100 futures are 0.2% lower on the day.
  • Energy names fair poorly in early cash trade, with crude oil futures comfortably off Friday’s highs.
  • Some fresh selling pressure in core global FI markets may have also applied pressure, as higher yields feed into valuations (although it’s always hard to be certain on that front when the unwind of weekend risk hedges are added to the equation).
