LNG From Canada to EU Not in Time to Cover Missing Winter Russia Supplies

Alberta’s Energy Minister Sonya Savage says Canada is not able to supply more gas to Europe in time to make up for the missing Russia flows this winter according to Energy Intelligence.

  • “Our problem and our challenge is that we are behind on building LNG infrastructure … (this isn’t) going to be in enough time to get gas to Europe for this winter when there’s going to be a shortage of supply,” said Savage
  • Canada has just the one LNG Canada export project under construction on the west coast with an expected completion in 2025.
  • In August, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described Canada as a "partner of choice" while Canada said they were looking at projects which could bring Canadian LNG to Europe.
