Lon Floats Rate Cut

  • NBP policy setter Eryk Lon has argued that the possibility of cutting interest rates should be "seriously considered" given that rising coronavirus infections post a risk to economic growth. Lon is the second policymaker in recent days to float the idea of lower rates.
  • Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska has indicated that Poland will report 3,890 Covid cases today, up from 2, 542 reported last week.
  • Polish Health Minister Adam Niedzielski has indicated that tests could be introduced at the border to prevent anybody from testing positive for coronavirus entering the country.
  • The final Q4 GDP estimate will be published on Friday.
