Long End Still Lags Post-Auction, Second-Round bid Runs Out Of Steam

GILTS

A second-round bid came into Gilts after the previously covered auction-induced move away from best levels.

  • Futures went on to reach fresh session highs before pulling back again in more recent trade.
  • That leaves the contract +45, while the major cash benchmarks sit 1.0-3.5bp richer.
  • Intermediates lead and the longer end lags in the wake of this morning’s soft auction results.
  • SONIA futures sit flat to 4.5bp richer through the blues, with a light flattening impulse observed.
  • Local headline flow remains subdued, leaving participants to look to wider markets for cues, while the usual pre-event risk adjustments are also getting some airtime.
