Lower House to Discuss EU Funding, Domestic "R" Rate Hits New Low

  • Health Min says Poland's "R" number has dropped to 0.72, the lowest it has been since the start of the pandemic and notes a rapid decline in cases in recent weeks, peaking in April.
    • Cases held in the 3,500-9,000 range last week vs 30,000 a few weeks prior
  • Poland has sent its draft of the National Recovery Plan to the European Commission.
    • Lower house set to discuss a government draft law on ratifying an increase of the EU's own funds related to the EU multi-billion euro pandemic recovery fund on May 4.
    • Under the Recovery Fund, Poland could receive some EUR 58.1 bn in grants and loans, including over EUR 34 bn this year
  • Moody's affirms poland's A2 rating with a stable outlook - pointing to Poland's economic resilience as one of its key credit strengths and the fact that the country only suffered a very moderate recession during the pandemic compared to its peers.
    • Sees 3.3% 2021 growth & 4.8% in 2022
