Macron-Now Is Not The Time For Dialogue w/Russia

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, French President Emmanuel Macron states that "We absolutely have to intensify our support to Ukraine and allow Ukraine to launch counter-offensive...We are prepared for a long-term conflict." Macron: "We must find the strength and courage to build a dialogue with Russia, without which peace in Europe is impossible, but now is not the time for this dialogue"

• Macron: I call on EU members to re-invest massively on defence and reinforce the defence industry sector....We need to invest more in defense. If we want peace, we need the means to achieve it.”
• Macron: 'We need to reaffirm nuclear dimension to Transatlantic defence alliance....the French [nuclear] deterrent contributes to our collective security and I re-iterate my proposal for discussing it with European friends...The EU cannot to be minority partners [to the United States]."
• Macron talks up the 'European Political Community' rather than the EU as a key area of cooperation on defence. Mainly referring to the UK which is a member of the former, but not the latter.
