Markets Mixed, But US Futures Outperform On Vaccine Trial Support

EQUITIES

European equity markets are mixed, with German, Spanish and EuroStoxx markets broadly flat, while UK markets lag (FTSE-100 -0.2% at pixel time). In futures space, US indices are uniformly higher, with the e-mini S&P up just shy of 40 points.

Much of the equity bid stems from the resumption of the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine trial, which underwent a routine pause last week.

In Europe, the tech sector is outperforming, closely followed by industrials and consumer discretionary, while energy and healthcare are the laggards.

The 50-dma for the Dec-20 e-mini S&P continues to provide support (was tested on a number of occasions last week), today coming in at 3310.49.
