MIDTERMS: Inflation And Abortion Cited As Key Issues On Exit Polls

US

NBC News has announced early exit polls showing that inflation and abortion are the two key issues cited by voters at the polling station.

  • "According to preliminary results, 32% of voters over all called inflation the single most important issue in their vote. Abortion is a close second, at 27%, followed by crime, immigration and gun policy."
  • If the exit polls are accurate, it could boost Democrat chances of limiting losses in the House.
  • A Pew Research Center report last week found abortion the ninth most important issue on their survey of voter priorities, and the receding influence of the Supreme Court "Dobbs" decision is widely seen as contributing to the GOP October polling surge.
  • Ali Velshi of NBC: "Abortion is the only issue for which the Democratic Party enjoys an advantage over the GOP in the NBC News Exit Poll. On other issues like inflation and crime, the Republican Party is more trusted."
