Minister Expects EU Funds to be Unlocked in the Summer

HUNGARY
  • Hungary could access its EU funding in the summer after an assessment in spring of the measures taken to address concerns over the rule of law, Minister Navracsics said in an interview to Magyar Nemzet on Thursday cited by MTI. "I trust that we'll approve the draft legislation in the coming week, and I also trust that those changes will be in line with the [European] Commission's expectations," Navracsics said. "That could result in an assessment of our performance in April-May... and, consequently, we could access the European Union funding that is legitimately ours as soon as the summer," he added.
  • Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called for EU enlargement to be sped up, saying that the integration of Western Balkan countries would strengthen the bloc and help in the handling of current issues, MTI report.
