Activity in Australia's services industries contracted for a second month in October as higher interest rates, labour shortages and flooding took a toll, according to the Australian Industry Group's Performance of Services Index (PSI) released on Tuesday.

The PSI fell 0.3 points to 47.7 points, indicating a second month of contraction. Business and property services showed the biggest month-on-month decline. Logistics was the only service sector that reported growth.

Pricing pressures remain elevated in the services industries. The input prices sub-index rose 4.2 points to 77.6, while selling prices rose 3.9 points to 62.2. The average wages sub-index fell 1.1 points to 64.8.
