MNI BRIEF: BOJ Sees Q1 Exports, Factory Output A Bit Weaker

First quarter exports and industrial production are looking weaker than the Bank of Japan forecast in January on heightened risks from the spread of Omicron, MNI understands.

The pandemic impact, as well as supply-chain restrictions, are still seen as temporary, but the extent of disruptions was not predicted by the BOJ in January. December exports slowed and industrial production, fell. January data for exports and trade is due on Thursday and industrial production next week.
