MNI BRIEF: BOJ To Conduct Extraordinary JGB Purchase Wednesday

(MNI) TOKYO

The Bank of Japan said on Monday it will conduct an extraordinary purchase of Japanese government bonds with a remaining life of five-10 years on Wednesday.

The purchase follows a similar operation on Sept. 29. The BOJ aims to curb the JGB selloff following the rise in U.S. Treasury bond yields.

The BOJ said that the bank “will make nimble responses by, for example, conducting additional outright purchases of JGBs and the Funds-Supplying Operations against Pooled Collateral, taking account of market conditions.”
