MNI BRIEF: Bostic Says Fed Has ‘Ways To Go’ On Inflation Fight

(MNI) WASHINGTON

The Federal Reserve will need to tighten monetary policy further in order to lower inflation from near 40-year highs toward its 2% target, Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said Monday.

“We’ve still got a ways to go and there’s some more work that we’re going to have to do to try to help move inflation in the right direction,” he told the Washington Post in a live webcast.

Atlanta Fed research director Dave Altig told MNI’s FedSpeak podcast last week inflation seems stuck near recent peaks with little signs of abating yet.
