MNI BRIEF: Brainard Resigns From Fed To Become NEC Chief

(MNI) WASHINGTON

Federal Reserve Vice Chair Lael Brainard is resigning her seat as Vice Chair of the U.S. central bank, the Fed said Tuesday, just after the White House announced she would be the next head of the president's National Economic Council.

Her last day at the Fed will be on or around Feb. 20, the Fed said, and market participants see her departure as removing a major dovish voice on the FOMC.
