MNI BRIEF: China June Manufacturing PMI  Above Expansionary 50

MNI (Singapore)

The China Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 50.2 in June from May's 49.6, rebounding to a four-month high, as economic recovery has accelerated on the improved epidemic situation and implemented pro-growth policies, data from the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday showed.

Both the production and new order sub-indices rose 3.1 and 2.2 percentage points to 52.8 and 50.4, respectively, back to the expansion zone above the breakeven 50.

The non-manufacturing PMI increased by 6.9 points to 54.7, rebounding significantly for the second month, as service activities jumped by 7.2 pps to 54.3 as the epidemic eased nationwide. Businesses in railway and air transportation were higher than 65.0, while accommodation and catering rose above 50 with the business volume turning from a decline to an increase, the NBS said.
