China's consumer prices will maintain a moderate rise and the economy is expected to continue to recover steadily, said Fu Linghui, spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics at a briefing on Monday, when asked if the government is worried about the risk of so-called "quasi-stagflation" given and economic downturn and rising prices.

"CPI does not have the basis for a sharp rise," said Fu, noting that grain production may have another bumper harvest, pork prices are still declining from a year earlier amid normalized production capacity and the supply of consumer goods and services are sufficient.

The government has also moved to increase the production and supply of energy sources such as coal , as well as offer fiscal and financial support to help ease rising costs for companies to avoid transmission of higher costs from PPI to CPI, according to Fu.
