MNI (Sydney)
SYDNEY (MNI)

Michelle Bullock was named on Friday as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia following the departure of Guy Debelle to the private sector.

Bullock has been an Assistant Governor with responsibility for financial stability. The appointment was made by Australian Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

In recent tradition, RBA governors have first served as Deputy Governor before their appointment. Current RBA Governor Philip Lowe’s seven year term expires in September next year, see: MNI INSIGHT: Deputy Debelle Exit Creates RBA Succession Issues.
