MNI BRIEF: Most USD600 Treasury Relief Checks Already Sent Out

The Treasury Department has shoveled out USD112 billion in direct checks to American households, data released Tuesday showed.

The Treasury data shows the department's operating cash balance fell USD165 billion from the prior day to USD1.563 trillion Monday, primarily reflecting the payments made to Americans. Congress set aside a total of USD166 billion for USD600 direct checks in its December fiscal relief package.

The Treasury cash statement also shows that USD2 billion in jobless payments have been paid out.
