     LONDON (MNI) - Markets are back at full steam Tuesday, as both the UK and
the U.S. return from holiday lengthened weekends.
     Starting the data day at 0645GMT is France's consumer sentiment.
Previously, the index value was 101.0.
     Next up at 0800GMT is ECB M3 data. Previously, y/y growth was 3.7%.
     Business confidence in Italy (released at 0800GMT) probably couldn't have
come at a more undesirable time, given the political drama over the past month.
Previously, the index value for business confidence was 105.1, whereas consumer
confidence was at 117.1.
     ECB Executive Board member Yves Mersch speaks in Frankfurt, Germany at
0930GMT.
     At 1400GMT the latest consumer confidence data is released in the States.
The previous conference board confidence value was 128.7.
     Next up at 1510GMT is Bundesbank Board member Claudia Buch speaking in
Halle, Germany. Following Buch at 1530GMT is ECB Executive Board member Sabine
Lautenschlaeger.
     At 1700GMT, ECB Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny speaks at the award
of the Horst Knapp Prize in Vienna, Austria.
     Later on in the evening at 2100GMT, New Zealand's Financial Stability
Report is published.
     Closing out the calendar is the UK's BRC Monthly Shop Price Index at
2301GMT and Japan's preliminary retail sales at 2350GMT. The BRC Monthly Shop
Price Index for April saw a fall in the y/y figure of 1.0% and represented the
deepest period of deflation since February from last year. Japan saw their
retail sales previously grow by 1.0% y/y.
