U.S. weekly jobless claims filed through June 13 fell slightly to 1.508 million

after declining to 1.566 million through June 6, the Labor Department said

Thursday. That takes the number of initial claims filed since the Covid-19

pandemic was declared in mid-March to more than 45 million -- nearly 30% of the

pre-crisis labor force. Continuing claims filed through June 6 reached 20.54

million, declining only marginally from the 20.606 million reported through May

30. Claimants claiming PUA rose to 760,526 after falling to 694,463 in the prior

week, driven by spikes in Pennsylvania and Arizona.
