More Negative Polling On Biden's Handling Of Economy

US

A new survey from the Financial Times and the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business has found that, “only 14 per cent of American voters believe they are better off financially now than when Joe Biden took office.”

  • The FT survey is the latest in a string of surveys which have given Biden a poor score on his handling of the economy. The Washington Post notes: "There’s an economic mystery confounding the White House: Most Americans are financially better off than they were before the coronavirus pandemic, but they feel worse about their economic prospects."
  • A WaPo survey in September found that, "Just 30 percent of voters approve of President Biden’s handling of the economy, the lowest reading since he took office."
  • Erik Gordon at Michigan’s Ross School said: “Every group — Democrats, Republicans and independents — list rising prices as by far the biggest economic threat . . . and the biggest source of financial stress. That is bad news for Biden, and the more so considering how little he can do to reverse the perception of prices before election day.”
