MPC's Litwiniuk Says There Are No Grounds For Further Rate Cuts

NBP's Przemyslaw Litwiniuk told TOK FM radio that he doesn't see any rationale for further rate cuts at this stage.

  • The official noted that "we will know from the November projection whether there are grounds for tightening monetary policy".
  • "I believe that we will see the first signs of an economic rebound (...) the projected curve reflecting the path of disinflation will be less steep".
  • The official pointed to fuel prices and the future fate of current anti-inflation measures as significant sources of uncertainty.
  • Litwiniuk joined the MPC as a nominee of the opposition-controlled Senate and had previously called the latest rate cuts "premature".
