N. Korea Test-Fired Unknown Ballistic Missile Into East Sea

NORTH KOREA

North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile into the East Sea, Yonhap News Agency reports citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

  • The launch comes after an eight-day hiatus since the previous missile drill, which involved firing a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) into the East Sea. Earlier today, North Korea's Foreign Minister Choe vowed "fiercer" military actions if the U.S. continues to expand its deterrence capabilities in the region together with South Korea and Japan.
  • "The keener the U.S. is on the bolstered offer of extended deterrence to its allies and the more they intensify provocative and bluffing military activities [...], the fiercer the DPRK's military counteraction will be in direct proportion to it," Choe said in a statement published by the Korean Central News Agency.
