N. Korean Missile Count Rises To 10 As S. Korea Vows Stern Response

NORTH KOREA

North Korea fired at least 10 missiles to the east and west of the Korean Peninsula today, Yonhap News Agency reports after citing comments from South Korean military command who vowed firm response.

  • The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it would not tolerate the launch of a North Korean missile that landed close to South Korean territorial waters south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL), the contested inter-Korean maritime border.
  • South Korean army stressed that it was the first such strike since the division of the country, which warrants firm military response. This rhetoric was echoed by South Korean President Yoon who spoke after an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
