New COVID-19 Measures Could Be In Place For 6 Months

New COVID-19 regulations in England:

  • Curfew on pubs and restaurants at 10pm and table service required.
  • Individuals instructed to work at home if possible, no more instruction to return to work.
  • Face masks required for retail and hospitality workers, those in taxis and private hire vehicles, and those in restaurants/pubs if they are not seated at a table.
  • Penalty for breaking rule of 6 or not wearing face mask raised to GBP200 for first offence.
  • Police can draw on military support if the former are busy enforcing COVID-19 rules.
  • Large sporting event return from October 1 put on hold.
  • PM raises prospect of greater restrictions if R rate does not fall.
  • All of these measures could remain in place for 6 months says PM.
