New Democracy Hold On To Lead With Election Under A Week Away

GREECE

Opinion polling less than a week ahead of the snap legislative election on 25 June shows PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis' conservative New Democracy maintaining its sizable advantage and on course to regain its majority in parliament. The latest seat projection polling mirrors that since the start of the truncated campaign, with ND on course to win around 163-164 seats in the 300-member parliament should polling be reflected in the eventual result.

  • In terms of policy implications, the regaining of a majority for ND is likely to ensure broad continuity from the Mitsotakis gov't. Greece's fiscal position has improved notably in the eyes of international investors and the EU under the stewardship of the Mitsotakis gov't.
