‘New Normal’ for Eskom

- Local press continues to go over the ‘new normal’ for Eskom outlined in yesterday’s state of the system press conference, with load-shedding to pick up over the next six to 12 months. The plans are based around Unit 1 of the Koeberg power station, the most reliable and efficient across the entire network – being taken offline at the beginning of December for maintenance.
- Later today, the Daily Maverick hold a webinar on the potential economic consequences of greylisting, with the acting Director-General of the National Treasury attending. The webinar begins at midday local time (1000GMT).
- Retail sales data are due later today, with markets expecting Y/Y constant growth to have slowed to 1.0% from 2.0%, with M/M dropping 0.6% over September.
