New Petrobras Chairman and CEO Appointed

  • Brazil’s Energy Ministry appointed Marcio Andrade Weber as Petrobras’s new chairman after a week-long power vacuum at Latin America’s biggest oil producer that’s become the centre of a political dispute over fuel prices. (BBG)
  • The government also appointed Jose Mauro Ferreira Coelho as the new chief executive officer, according to a public statement. The nominees need to be approved at a company shareholder meeting.
  • Brazil’s Senate gave final approval on Wednesday to the nomination of Diogo Abry Guillen and Renato Dias de Brito Gomes for the central bank’s board of directors.
    • Diogo Guillen will serve as director of economic policy.
    • Renato Brito Gomes will oversee the financial system.
