No.10 Spox-'We Will Not Set Deadline For Brexit Talks'

Wires carrying comments from No. 10 Downing Street spox Max Blain, states that the UK "still sees significant issues in Brexit talks," and that "We will not set a deadline for Brexit talks."

  • Earlier, Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin urged caution in spite of recent progress. Following talks in Belfast with UK Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Chris Heaton-Harris, Martin stated that, "The issues are very challenging and they're complex, particularly as you get into the weeds. I welcome the progress that has been made," On 11 Jan, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly also issued comments emphasising that talks remain difficult and ongoing.
  • All these comments come in contrast to Bloomberg article published earlier today saying that talks could soon enter the 'tunnel' phase ahead of the announcement of a deal.
