AMERICAS OIL: North America’s Jet Fuel Demand Rises 0.1% on Week: BNEF

Total implied jet fuel demand across North America is seen rising marginally by 0.1% in the week to Feb. 3 at 1.52m b/d. This puts it up around 2.0% year-on-year.

  • For the US alone, jet fuel demand is rising by 0.1% to 1.28m b/d.
  • US daily commercial passenger numbers Jan. 23-29 fell 6% week-on-week, according to TSA data. BNEF expects these figures to be subdued before picking up in late February.
  • Domestic US flight schedules across the US rose 0.9% in the week to Feb. 3 to 143,548.
  • However, domestic schedules are seen down 0.1% in the week to Feb.10 at 143,349.
  • International schedules from the US fell 0.7% in the week to Feb. 3 at 15,905. For the following week to Feb. 10, international flights are expected to fall by 0.6% on the week to 15,810.
