Northeast Asia Spot LNG Lowest Since Jun 2021

LNG

Northeast Asia spot LNG prices have fallen as low as 11.9$/mmbtu to the lowest levels since Jun 2021 according to Bloomberg.

  • Lower Asian prices have encouraged some increased buying interest this year but overall demand remains muted with gas storage levels high after low demand over the winter.
  • Field maintenance and outages in pipeline supplies from Norway this week are supporting European gas prices and also helping to keep TTF at the premium to JKM. The front month JKM-TTF spread has been holding between about -0.6$/mmbtu and -1.3$/bbl so far this month. The forward curve is also showing TTF at a premium to JKM throughout the remainder of 2023.
    • TTF MAY 23 up 1.9% at 41.93€/MWh
    • NBP MAY 23 up 2.5% at 100.96p/th
    • JKM May 23 down -0.3% at 12.59$/mmbtu
    • JKM-TTF May 23 down -0.3$/mmbtu at -0.88$/mmbtu
    • US Natgas MAY 23 up 1.8% at 2.15$/mmbtu
