Northwest European LNG Sendout Hits Record High Early March

LNG

Sendout from northern Europe's new LNG terminals hit record highs early March according to ICIS as the Dutch EemsEnergyTerminal returned to high rates at the same time as Germany's Wilhelmshaven facility was active according to ICIS.

  • The Dutch terminal at Eemshaven was seen at 20 mcm/day rates last September/October, then slowed down sendout in following months as additional regas capacity was added.
  • Germany's Wilhelmshaven terminal meanwhile started up in December, and was the busiest new terminal in January. But Eemshaven returned in February, and has now seen rates heading up towards 20 mcm/day again in March.
  • The Deutsche Ostsee terminal in Lubmin, east Germany has not yet reached sendout levels much above 7 mcm/day because of the complicated logistical nature of the project.
  • Germany's third new terminal at Brunsbuettel is not yet ready to send gas into the onshore pipeline networks, but could start by end of March.
