Norwegian Company to Build 840MW Estonia Offshore Wind Farm

Norwegian firm Deep Wind Offshore has won the auction for the development of an 840MW offshore wind farm in Estonia’s Saare 2.2 area, Estonia’s Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA) said.

  • The firm was the only company to bid in the auction, with a bid amount of around €1.32mn – the starting price of the auction.
  • The project will have 56 wind turbines and Deep Wind must begin its EIA within 90 days of winning the auction.
  • The firm also won the auction for the Saare 2.1 area and plans to develop a 1.56GW offshore wind project.
  • CPTRA will hold an auction for the Saare 3 sea area over 4-7 July 2024.
