Norwegian Gas Maintenance Ramps Up into the Weekend

NATURAL GAS

Pipeline gas flows from Norway to Europe are nominated down to the lowest since mid June at 216.8mcm/d on 25 Aug as season maintenance outages ramp up. Flows compare to 255mcm/d yesterday and around 330mcm/d last week.

  • Norwegian supplies fell as capacity reductions at the giant Troll field deepened ahead of a full 125 mcm/d halt expected to start from 26 Aug until 7 Sep.
  • The outage will coincide with works at the Kollsnes processing plant, impacting 153mcm/d of capacity, currently expected over the same period.
  • An unplanned outage at the Aasta Hansteen field reducing capacity by 5mcm/d is adding to the lower supplies. The outage due to process problems is currently showing until tomorrow according to Gassco but has an uncertain duration.
  • Further outages reducing Visund field offline capacity up to 17mcm/d and works at the Dunkirk and Gina Krog gas terminals are also expected to begin tomorrow, 26 Aug.
  • The main works are expected to peak at 173.4mcm/d on 4 Sep according to Gassco before seeing a gradual reduction in outages throughout September.
