Offshore Buying Of Japan Stocks Continued for 7th Straight Week

Offshore inflows continued into Japan equities. We saw ¥808bn in flows for the week ending May the 12th, see the table below. Foreign inflows have been positive for the past 7 weeks, as Japan equities outperform. Inflows into Japan bonds also rebounded, recording the strongest weekly inflow since early April.

  • In terms of Japan outflows, we saw a sharp rebound in purchases of foreign bonds, but the trend has been volatile in recent weeks for such flows. Outflows into offshore stocks were close to flat.
