OIL PRODUCTS: China’s CDU Capacity to Hold Steady on Week: OilChem

OIL PRODUCTS

CDU capacity utilisation rates at China’s state-owned refineries are expected to remain unchanged in the week to Sep. 12, according to OilChem, amid no new scheduled maintenance or restarts.

  • Among independent refineries in China’s Shandong province, CDU capacity utilisation rates are estimated to rise further with several refineries set to resume normal production from previous maintenance.
  • CDU capacity utilisation rates at domestic refineries in China averaged 69.1% last week, down 0.21 percentage points on the previous seven-day period as Shandong Yulong was newly included in OilChem’s sample.
  • When excluding Yulong, rates at state-owned refineries rose due to Ningxia Petrochem resuming production.
  • China’s gasoline demand is projected to stay flat as the travel peak eases off, cutting downstream buying.
  • Gasoil demand is seen recovering further with the start of the fishing season. However, downstream players are likely to be cautious of boosting buying too aggressively.
