OIL: US Oil Production Set to Continue Steady Rise: BNEF

OIL

BNEF forecasts that US oil production will continue to rise in 2024 and beyond.

  • The US oil industry has become more resilient as ongoing costs reductions and adoption of best practices help boost productivity.
  • US oil companies are now able to produce more for a lower cost compared to previous years.
  • Oil Production costs could fall further as productivity in 2024 is showing signs of even further improvement, BNEF said.
  • BNEF sees US oil production in 2026 at 14.12m b/d, up 240k b/d in 2025.
  • The sizeable rig count decline in the US may not be as negative as first thought as the number of wells drilled and completed are holding up better than rig counts, especially in the Permian.
  • Sustained US oil growth will be a continued challenge for OPEC as it undermines the bloc’s ability to manage global supply and prices.
