Omnibus, Fiscal Bills Get Approval For Full Senate Vote

ARGENTINA
  • The government’s omnibus bill has made some progress this week, with the members of the general, budget and constitutional committees giving their approval to send it to all senators for a vote, although this won’t be before late next week at the earliest. The committees also agreed to put forward the government’s fiscal bill for a separate vote. The bills first passed the lower house late last month, but the government still faces a battle to get them through the opposition-controlled Senate.
  • No domestic macro data are due today. Next week, May tax revenue figures are expected, while April IP and construction data will cross on Wednesday and the latest BCRA survey will be published on Thursday.
  • Separately, the government has ordered the repurchase from the BCRA of the AL29 dollar bonds for a nominal value of $801.3m, according to a resolution published in the official gazette.
