OPEC+ Talks Continue as Impasse Persists

OPEC+ has been reported this week to be in a deadlock with Nigeria/Angola over quotas as the situation that forced the meeting delay drags on.

  • Both Reuters and Bloomberg sources led stories Tuesday suggested the meet could face further delays as the impasse remains in place.
  • The African quota topic has taken away from the main thrust of the meeting, to decide what happens next for wider OPEC+ output, with a focus on what Saudi does next to its 1mn bpd voluntary cuts.
  • Chief OPEC Correspondent Amena Bakr said on X in the last hour “One day till the opec plus meeting and talks are expected to continue today among members.”
