US-CHINA

Alex Plitsas, a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council: "China’s response [to Pelosi Taiwan visit] so far today: - Cyber attack against Taiwan President’s Office - Closed air space to civilian aircraft over the straits - Civil defense sirens now sounding in China - Chinese fighters heading for the straits - Massive land force mobilization along the coast"

  • Japan's NHK: Increased activity of US military flights observed at Japan’s Kadena Airbase ahead of Pelosi’s landing in Taiwan's Taipei. Article states: "An aircraft and five aerial refueling planes took off one after another and headed south of Okinawa....Under these circumstances, according to the Okinawa Defense Bureau, a total of 22 KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft are flying from outside bases to the US military Kadena base in Okinawa...
In an unusual number, five of these planes took off in quick succession after 8:00 p.m. on the 2nd, followed by eight F-15 fighters stationed at Kadena Air Base, which also took off and headed south of Okinawa."
