Petro Approval At 49.7% After 100 Days, Production Data Due

  • One hundred days after taking office, President Petro’s approval rating is running at 49.7%, according to the most recent Invamer poll published by Caracol Noticias.- Of those consulted, 54.5% said that they don’t agree with stopping oil exploration. (BBG)
  • DANE is expected to publish data on the manufacturing output and retail sales for September shortly:
    • Sept. Industrial Production YoY, prior 7.1%
    • Sept. Manufacturing Production YoY, est. 7.8%, prior 9.1%
    • Sept. Retail Sales YoY, est. 7.0%, prior 8.1%
  • Separately, BanRep co-director Mauricio Villamizar said that he estimates that that supply side effects contribute around 50% of total inflation while demand factors represent one third.- He also noted that there are risks that supply effects can impact indexation and inflation expectations, while speaking at a presentation.
