Planning Underway For Biden-Xi Meeting In US Next Month - Washington Post

Headlines have crossed from the Washington Post that US President Biden and China President Xi Jinping are likely to meet in the US next month (see this link for more details).

  • The meeting is planned to take place in San Francisco, which will coincide with the APEC meeting. According to the Washington Post article in terms of the likelihood of the meeting - "It's pretty firm" according to a US official.
  • This would be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since November last year when they met in Bali at the G20.
  • A number of senior US officials have traveled to China this year, while next week a group of US Senators also hopes to meet China President Xi Jinping as part of their trip to China.
