Prime ministers' questions gets underway in the House of Commons with Prime Minister Boris Johnson still under significant pressure from both the opposition and his own benches.

  • Earlier this morning, former Conservative minister Tobias Ellwood MP stated that he no longer had confidence in PM Johnson and would be submitting a letter calling for a leadership contest.
  • It remains unclear how many letters have been submitted to the chair of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs. A total of 54 (representing 15% of Conservative MPs) are required to trigger a confidence vote. Only 1922 chair Sir Graham Brady knows how many letters have been sent in so far.
