Politico Downplaying Prospect Of Brexit Talks Entering The Tunnel Today

UK

Per Politico: "Brexit chief negotiators David Frost and Michel Barnier hold their last head-to-head this morning in what was meant to be the final formal negotiating round. But talks are said not to have gone as well as hoped this week, with little expectation that the two sides will move into the "tunnel" phase to hammer out a legal text. "It's not time for the tunnel yet," an EU official told Playbook last night. "Maybe at the end of the month. You need two to tunnel." There is some speculation that a new formal negotiating round will be announced instead. There will be no Barnier press conference either (apparently just because of the packed schedule at the moment in Brussels), but look out for written statements from both sides."
