Polling Stations To Open At 14:00CET For Czech Presidential Run-Off

  • Petr Pavel and Andrej Babis started their final television debate last night with a joint call for a calmer discussion and an end to hateful attacks. In the course of the debate, they agreed that current President Milos Zeman should not bring forward the appointment of the next Constitutional Court Chairperson and leave the decision to his successor. The two candidates will face off for the last time at 13:00CET/12:00GMT in a debate broadcast on public radio and iRozhlas.
  • As mentioned in our round-up of the final days of the presidential campaign yesterday, retired army general Petr Pavel remains a clear frontrunner to become the next Czech President. Polling stations will open at 14:00CET/13:00GMT and close at the same time on Saturday, with the results expected around two hours later.
