US TSYS: ### POV, RISK METRICS TICK UP, BUT MKT DOESN'T KNOW IT YET.
- For those typically active in tactical/short term trade, the cancelling of
Wednesday's economic outlook testimony to the Joint Economic Committee by Fed
chair Powell presents a quandary.
- While the testimony has been canceled by the JEC, it's rescheduling is still
unknown -- let alone whether the text of the testimony that was supposed to be
released two hours prior will be forthcoming. Regarding the text, it's most
likely to be rescheduled as well, but this has not been confirmed yet.
- The clock is ticking quandary: The Fed blackout period starts this Friday at
midnight and runs through Dec 20, the day after the last FOMC annc of 2018. Is
the testimony is not rescheduled by Friday, markets will have some time on their
hands.
- Traders are wary of event/trade risk so close to year end. Note, CBOE vol
index VIX is still lower -- but making a move off lows last few minutes (17.20
last -0.87 vs. 15.94 low). Someone is getting the message.
